20. 2011–2012 Fisker Karma
The Fisker Karma fail is a real sad one. After all, the F. Karma was the first premium-plug in range-extended luxury sports sedan on the planet. And, having been designed by the famed Henrik Fisker, this was one gorgeous car. Sadly though this car tended to break down, catch on fire, underperform and fail so spectacularly that Fisker Automotive went bankrupt in 2013.
19. 1980-82 Ferrari Mondial 8
Sitting here in 2017, it is hard to remember that Ferrari had some rough years awhile back. In fact, the entire 1980s were bad for the Italian carmaker with the 218-horsepower Ferrari Mondial 8 being the ugly car that kicked off this bad run. In addition to being underpowered for a Ferrari, this car was failed in the handling and looks departments as well.
18. 1971 Ford Pinto
Odds are that you do not know just how infamously bad the Ford Pinto was. Though this entry level car was easy to handle and fairly reliable, the dang thing would, sometimes, explode into a huge ball of flame when it was rear ended. Compounding this deadly flaw was the internal Ford memo that was leaked showing that the company leadership decided it was more cost effective to pay fire victims than it was to fix the faulty gas tanks.
