Porsche recently announced it would bring back a manual transmission for next iteration of its track-ready 911 GT3. Well, we confirmed with Porsche’s head of GT cars that this wouldn’t be the case for the more hardcore GT3 RS.

So we know it will be PDK only, and this spy video from the Nurburgring raises the lot of new questions for us.

The ‘Ring opened back up for this season earlier this month, which means manufacturers are once again attending industry test days to tune their performance vehicles around the famous course.

Porsche wasted no time, is already hitting the track with the next GT3 RS. From the sounds of it, the newest iteration of the RS will keep its naturally-aspirated engine, the quick shifts confirm what Andreas Preuninger said to us at Geneva about the PDK gearbox.

What we find odd in the video below is the NACA ducts on the hood of the vehicle. What could they be tunneling air to? Is it some clever in-car aerodynamic trickery as seen in Aston Martin DB11? Or could it just be and some more effective brake ducts? Either way, we are intrigued.

That being said, this vehicle obviously isn’t a production model, so those ducts might not even make it to the final product.

We will just have to wait until the official unveil to find out. In the meantime, take the look for yourself as it flies through some turns at an impressive pace.
