Communist countries aren’t exactly known for producing world’s most outrageous vehicles, to say the least. While some of these countries had a strong automotive industry, most of their vehicles were far inferior compared to their western counterparts.
The situation gets ever worse if we’re talking about sports and race cars. However, there are a few examples out there that stood out from the crowd, and this fantastic video does a great job of showcasing these otherwise forgotten speed demons.
Perhaps the most popular communist sports car till this day is the Skoda 130 RS. Although it produced a modest 142 horsepower, this vehicle was mostly known for its agility, and therefore was extremely popular when it comes to rally driving. With its high revving engine and exquisite balance, it’s still beloved till this day.
On the other hand, we have vehicles such as Tatra 607 Monoposto. With its groundbreaking design and an air cooled V8 engine which pumped out 200 horsepower, these vehicles were no joke back in the day.
Which of these machines is your personal favorite?
