Wherever it goes, a Chevrolet Corvette C7.R race car is a loudest thing around–at Daytona, and you can hear these things from over the mile away.
One French team, Labre Competition, campaigns the C7.R in various European series, where it shouts about its American heritage at the full volume. As the video below from a recent race at Monza shows, it is glorious.
The only other vehicle on track that come close to matching the Corvette’s sheer volume is the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and which doesn’t have quite the same low-end rumble of the C7.R.
The Corvette’s noise comes courtesy of a 5.5-liter V8–not the 6.2, like a production car–which produces around 500 hp, depending on balance of performance. It is an evolution of the engine used in this vehicle’s predecessor, the C6.R.
If you haven’t seen the C7.R race, well, you should. It is hard to capture how much louder it is than everything else.
That sound, it’s visceral, a growl. Best sounding car ever. Watch the video below and enjoy!
