Nissan has seen considerable sales success with its Rogue crossover. With the release of the thoroughly refreshed 2017 Nissan Rogue SL and a new hybrid model, the compact crossover seems well on its way to supplant the Altima to become the marque’s best-selling model.
Tweaks to the exterior include a new front fascia with the brand’s signature V-motion grille, new fog lamps, quad-element headlights with LED daytime running lights. The body sides feature flared wheel arches and a new chrome garnish, while the rear is tidied up by revamped tail lights and a new rear-bumper design.
The cabin boasts a new flat-bottom steering wheel, a driver’s seat/mirror memory function, and a leather shifter boot. Other refinements include remote engine start, a new shift-knob design, a new seat fabric, new trim pieces for the door panels and instrument cluster, and a revised center console. Rogue SL models also get a new Platinum Reserve Interior package which brings special quilted leather inserts for the seats and tan leather upholstery.
The 2017 Nissan Rogue SL is offered in front- or all-wheel-drive. It is powered by a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder rated at 170 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. The mill is mated to a continuously variable automatic gearbox with Eco and Sport modes. The hybrid version is motivated by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder that generates 141 hp and 144 lb-ft of torque. It works with a 40-hp electric motor that raises total output to 176 hp. The SL hybrid is expected to return 33 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway.
