Unless you are racing to make the drive thru before it closes, Wendy’s is not the good foundation on which to build the racing career.
Racing, of course, is the best way to do that and it is just what James, the creative director at Donut Media, grew up doing. Well, the other James, Donut Media’s head writer, grew up doing the Wendy’s run and a result is that he’s not as good the racing driver as Racer James.
But no matter the skill, the racing can always be done better when the vehicle is just as good as its driver.
For the purpose of science and entertainment, Donut Media got ahold of the Mercedes-AMG CLA45 and the Mitsubishi Mirage with the MI blacked out, good vehicular representations of James’ and James’ skill levels.
And then it switched things up by giving Racer James the Mirage and Wendy’s James the AMG to see how skill or lack thereof would be affected by a handicap.
The Mirage has the 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine making a whole 75 hp. The Mercedes makes a 300 hp premium over the Mitsubishi with one of the most heavily boosted 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engines on a market.
Unleash the two at Willow Springs raceway and the results are spectacularly different, directly contradict what Engineering Explained’s meticulously crafted experiment found.
