The Fiesta ST200 is at the top of a hot-hatch game right now. It might not have a lot of outright speed, but in terms of the pure enjoyment, it’s almost impossible to beat.
Perhaps that’s why the Autocar brought an all-electric Renault Zoe rally car and the go-kart to the track to find out if either could finally dethrone the mighty Fiesta.
The ST200 is a special edition, 197-hp Fiesta ST built exclusively for the European market. It’s taken on many of its rivals in comparison tests before and has yet to face off against machines as… different as this.
The eRally Renault Zoe is the purpose-built junior rally car, complete with the stripped interior and full roll cage.
It was made for emerging young drivers looking to get into a rally, and doesn’t cost the insane amount of money, like race vehicles usually do.
Did I mention it’s completely electric? Well, the go-kart, on the other hand, is the run-of-the-mill racing kart, powered by the 270cc four-stroke Honda engine, with a top track speed of just 45 mph. It’s not fast, pretty much any corner can be taken with just the quick dab of the brakes, making it a lap time killer.
In the end, not only does the Fiesta come out on top when it comes to fun, it also manages to set the fastest lap time.
