We already know the Lambo Huracan Spyder is a fantastic driving machine. Its 5.2-liter V10 and drop-top are perfect for the downtown cruising and listening to all of that naturally-aspirated Italian goodness.
But the Lambo Huracan LP580-2, the cheapest, least powerful vehicle in Lamborghini’s lineup, might actually be the better driver’s car. Auto Express brought these two together to find out. Both Lambo Huracans come standard with that lovely naturally-aspirated 10-cylinder engine stuck behind the seats, spinning the slick dual-clutch transmission.
Other than the sharp looks, though, that’s where the similarities end. The Huracan Spyder comes standard with Lamborghini’s all-wheel-drive system and produces 602 horsepower compared to the rear-drive coupe’s 571. Steve Sutcliffe of Auto Express also discovers the more expensive Spyder is softer than the Huracan LP580, saying it’s the one to have if you are going to live with it day-to-day.
It’s also got a lot of traction thanks to that all-wheel-drive system, has the convertible bling factor that can’t be replicated with the hardtop. Sutcliffe describes the Lambo LP580, on the other hand, as the more hardcore of the two.
The ride is harsher, it’s louder, the rear-drive setup keeps drivers on their toes. It’s challenging to drive, as the supercar should be. Unsurprisingly, if you are looking for the ultimate Lamborghini driver’s car, the budget-minded (at just $199,800) LP580-2 Huracan might just be the best bang for your buck.
