For this installment of Jay Leno’s Garage, Jay heads to Pebble Beach to check out a 1947 Kurtis-Omohundro Comet. The Comet is owned by Geoffrey Hacker who came across it while doing a research project. He fell in love with the car’s beautiful design and storied history. Later, he learned that the 1947 Kurtis Comet held the distinction of being the first documented post-war sports car.
The ’47 Comet has a Ford flat-head, single-carb with aluminum heads which was the standard for most hot rod engines of the time. It has a three-speed transmission and 1935 Ford wire rims that compliment the bronze windshield and grille.
Certainly a rare find, this 1947 Kurtis-Omohundro Comet is one of only two that were built and the perfect addition. To check out this stunning vintage car, just click the video below.
