The Koenigsegg Agera R is one of the fastest and most exclusive vehicles in the world.
Each Koenigsegg is hand-built using only the finest materials, so there is no way that such the exquisite car could ever go wrong, right? Well, catching fire is the very serious issue that seems to be all too common in a realm of supercars.
Footage has recently been shown of the Koenigsegg Agera R that burned down in the explosion in China. The footage shows the vehicle being sprayed with the fire extinguisher. The first footage of the car came from the supercar spotting group called Global Car Wanted.
There is some additional footage of the vehicle going up in smoke on the privately owned Chinese YouTube channel. The vehicle appears to be pulled over safely when the explosion occurs under the hood.
It is believed that a battery was the component that exploded, it is not known what caused it to fail. Koenigsegg uses the LiFePO4 battery, which has the lithium iron phosphate formula that is much safer than other lithium compounds.
Unluckily, this battery is not perfect and can still fail due to misuse. And we hope to get more details about what went wrong here. It is sad to see such the expensive car go up in smoke.
