Matt Farah is not a fan of classic cars so we can’t expect him to feature old-but-original cars on The Smoking Tire. However, Petrolicious founder Afshin Behnia brought three Alfa Romeos to Malibu in a bid to change Matt’s mind. For the first of three “One Takes”, Matt and Afshin take a 1967 Alfa Romeo Duetto for a ride along the picturesque Pacific Coast Highway in Southern California.

TheĀ little roadster may not be spanking-new, but it’s well-maintained and it’s evident that Afshin drives it on a regular basis. He said the car is special because it was the first year that Alfa Romeo began selling the Spiders in the U.S. In addition, 1967 was the only year that Alfa gave the car the “Duetto” name, which was later designated as theĀ “Spider.”

Powered by a 1.6-liter carbureted engine producing 120 horsepower, the ’67 Duetto is by no means a performance car. Afshin pointed out that it ain’t the crux of a classic Italian convertible. Cruising is more important to Alfa owners. Watch the video and you’ll sense that Matt’s comments and infectious grin suggest that he’s getting the point.

One thing is for certain though, there is no YouTube channel that’s more passionate about vintage rides than Petrolicious, and some of the obsession may start to rub off on us.
