Back in the 80’s cars were not designed to go ballistic and reach speeds of up to 200 miles per hour, but that doesn’t mean they can’t with the help of some nifty modifications! Take a 1986 Toyota MK3 Supra for instance, its Aero wasn’t streamlined for high-speed runs, but if you equip it with a 2JZ engine and an 8285 Turbo, no one knows what it’s really capable of achieving.
The setup actually thumps out 1350 horsepower and the car also packs 15 lbs (psi) of low boost, plus the nitrous. In the past, it ran the half mile and hit 180 MPH – not bad for a 30-year old ride! This time around the Supra is running at the Puerto Rico Half Mile at the Rafael Hernández Airport in Aguadilla and the guys behind it were bent on breaking the 200 mph barrier!
