The Nurburgring is one of the few tracks where literally anyone can drive whatever they want on it. And if you pay the fee, you can go on the track during the tourist session in your (street legal) car, truck, motorcycle, pickup, van, etc.
That means there is always the chance of an issue, like the inexperienced driver crashing or the mechanical issue developing in the car that isn’t up to track duty.
An issue like the oil leak or spill. And that is an issue that impacts every car on track, not just the vehicle it happens to.
And on the Nurburgring, it’s the big problem. The track is already packed and since the drivers are varying in the experience levels, they may not even realize they should be on a lookout for oil.
They might not even realize what it looks like. That leads to the really bad situation:
So, other than the times where it happens right in front of you and there is no way to avoid it, what can you do?
Keep your eyes up. Scan the track for changes in shininess, and if the track is slick, it will be shiny. Look for people on the edge of a track signaling you to slow down. And just be careful.
