Rocking an original patina on the outside but a modern rolling chassis underneath, this 1957 International Harvester Metro van is one unique ride only the uncool would probably be able to resist.
This IH van is a rare 102″ roundback model rescued from a farm field, where it had been sitting for over 2 decades. The original drivetrain was locked up and unusable calling for some chassis swap. It’s now sitting in a 1997 GMC pickup chassis with RideTech air-ride suspension. The body is all original and reflects a cool patina only the nature could perfectly make. The edges and lips were reconstructed though and a cool flipping emblem which reads “Retro” was also added and placed at the front.
Of course, the interior wasn’t left out and a complete restoration was done. The dashboard took a makeover and new instrumentation was installed. The seats are from a 2006 GMC Denali and the floor, which took the most time restoring, is all metal riveted together to give out a sturdy mean look. Complementing all restoration is a 5.7L Vortech engine and a 4-speed auto transmission.
Now, that’s a real nice rat rod the owner can sure cruise with his family. Love this type of build too? You can check it for yourself through the video below.
