The ’60s were considered a golden era for muscle cars, and many manufacturers used all sorts of tricks to come out on top. The ride you’re about to see epitomizes that age perfectly. We are talking about one perfectly restored 1962 Chevrolet Z11.
Coming out of the factory, this car wasn’t necessarily hyped as an extremely fast racer, but the actual performances definitely caught a lot of individuals off guard. Well, that’s because manufacturers were allowed to use tricks in the early ’60s to toy with the competition.
Although is sported a massive 409 engine which had tons of power, Z11 was still a pretty big vehicle which was supposed to weigh a lot. Still, through use of aluminum body panels, the weight has been reduced by a wide margin, and thus, the performances became evident.
This one has been restored by Jim Mattison, and the unveiling happened at Muscle Cars and Corvette Nationals in Chicago, where this 1962 Chevrolet Z11 also got to wear the crown for the muscle car of the week! What a fantastic vehicle!
