With a Porsche 918 Spyder starting to age beautifully, it’s no wonder that owners have become more open-minded. As such, we can now see a Zuffenhausen halo car at the drag strip more often and we are here to show you the latest example of that.
The adventure comes from the recent Lambo Festival in Houston, where the owner of the gas-electric Porscha decided to race… the world. Well, to be more precise, the Porsche 918 Spyder duked it out with machines such as a Nissan GT-R, the Porsche 911 Turbo S from the 997 generation and (drum rolls) the Mercedes-Benz GL.
We are not sure why this driver of the Benz SUV decided to sprint together with the Porsche 918 (the two raced on more than one occasion), but this resulted in one of a most unusual drag strip duels we have shown you this year.
Zooming in on the Porsche hypercar, it’s difficult not to notice how consistent a machine was, delivering one 10.1-second pass after another.
Speaking of the hypercar’s 1,320 feet time, a Porsche 918 Spyder can complete the quarter-mile task even quicker than that – the monster has delivered passes as low as 9.8 seconds. Then again, this also depends on how well the surface is prepped.
