Up for grabs in the Dallas/Fort Worth showroom of Gateway Classic Cars is a well-maintained 1982 Chevrolet Corvette Collector’s Edition. To date, all C3 Corvettes still have the “sugar scoop” roof, with the rear window being vertical from its back edge.
With the 1982 Collector’s Edition, we saw for the first time a ‘Vette with a functional hatchback rear window. It was also the first Chevy to use a 4-speed automatic transmission called the “Turbo Hydra-Matic 700R4.” In addition, the car saw the first “Fuelie” in a ‘Vette in decades. The 5.7-liter “Cross Fire” throttle body fuel-injected small block delivered 10 more ponies than the previous L-48 version.
The Collector’s Edition package also included exclusive bronze tinted glass t-tops, a special Silver Beige Metallic paint with matching Silver Beige Metallic leather bucket seats, Collector’s Edition emblems, decals, accent pinstripes, and aluminum wheels.
This car is a must have for any avid Corvette Collector. The only mods done to this magnificent ride are an elegant wood veneer dash trim and some Flowmaster mufflers to spruce up the growl of the rumbling V-8.
