Stevie Fast Jackson has been dominating the small tire world for years, but he sure does have other goals in mind, including hopping into the cockpit of a top fuel dragster. But until his lofty nitro dreams come to pass, Steve has ventured into the highly-competitive realm of NHRA Pro Mod.
He made headlines at the 2017 Gatornationals in Gainesville and got a taste of how tough Pro Mod can be. However, Stevie Fast’s second event, the Spring Nationals held at Houston Raceway Park, was not as successful as he failed to even make the field. He also exited eliminations early at the Four Wide Nationals in North Carolina.
The setbacks did not deter Stevie as he and his team loaded up and headed to Commerce Dragway in Atlanta for the Southern Nationals. There, things started to come together as Jackson raced out of the number 11 qualifying spot and blitzed his opponents, earning a spot in the finals along with Mike Castellana, a Pro Mod Legend who used a holeshot to put an end to Stevie’s event-win aspirations.
Over the past week, the tour made its way to Heartland Park Topeka in Kansas for the Heartland Nationals, where Stevie found himself on the top half of the field during the qualifying sessions. In the final round, he had to deal with Castellana again, but this time around Stevie turned the tables and took his first win in NHRA competition. It served notice to the rest of the class: Stevie Fast Jackson is here to stay and he won’t be racing for second place!
