As you may remember, the guy behind Petrolicious, Afshin Behnia, is the massive Alfa Romeo maniac. And so much so that his collection includes an 8C, the Giulietta Sprint Speciale, the Giulietta Spider and two GTVs—an earlier car in Giallo Ocra, and the late one in Rosso.
The red 2.0, seen here, is the real daily driver sports car, just perfect for the canyons around the Los Angeles.
The 2000 GT Veloce was introduced in 1971 with a rest of Alfa Romeo’s new two-liter lineup. With a previous 1750cc engine now bored to 1962cc, American-market GTVs only came with the mechanical fuel injection, with the SPiCA system rated at 130 hp (Europe retained the Weber carburetors).
Due to a new crash regulations coming into play in ’75, 1974 was the last year for the GTV in the USA, although Alfa did sell the few in 1975 that were actually built that year, and labeled as ’74s.
Once sorted and maintained properly, these Alfas are wonderful road vehicles that are keen to go fast if you step on it.
While the dream might be something as exotic as the 33 Stradale, the GTV will get the most seat time for the reason.
