If standing up to the supercar has become the holy grail of achievements for fast saloons, then a Tesla Model S P100D can easily call itself the champion.
The Model S has always been quick, and even during the glory days of the P85D. It would still get the jump on pretty much anything off ta line, though the lead would have been relinquished rather quickly and if its opponent was formidable in its own right, despite having less power.
The Tesla P100D, on the other hand, is a lot better at maintaining the lead than older Model S versions, and as far as we can tell, it matters very little what opponent you confront it with – as long as we are not talking hypercars.
In this particular case, we are looking at the McLaren 650S Spyder, which packs 650 PS and 675 Nm (500 lb-ft) of torque. Front the stand still, it can get to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds before maxing out at 333 km/h (206 mph).
Of course this Model S P100D shouldn’t be too worried about that since it can hit the same marker in about two and a half seconds.
