1986 Ford Taurus
The automotive market tends to have it’s low points and the 80’s were definitely a time when the American car industry was not producing many great vehicles. However, the Ford Taurus changed the game completely and brought Ford back to the forefront of the automotive industry.
Ford was facing bankruptcy in the mid 80’s and many were predicting it’s downfall. However, the Ford Taurus erupted with success and brought new innovations back to the automotive market.
Ford employed a strategy of teamwork that would prove revolutionary in the car development process. Starting a trend of aerodynamic design, the Taurus was lighter and sleeker than many of the cars on the streets at the time.
Even before the Taurus had hit the production line automotive enthusiasts were claiming that the car would be “the shape of tomorrow” and it certainly did not fall short of expectations. In fact, When the Taurus was released in 1985, it garnered unanimous critical praise from automotive publications and went on to win many awards.
Without question the 1986 Ford Taurus helped change the automotive world and without it we may have never seen a Ford car on the streets again. Therefore, it only makes sense that a Ford as iconic as the Taurus would take us into the top 5!
