1955 Ford Thunderbird
The 1955 Ford Thunderbird captivated consumers the moment it was unveiled at the 1954 Detroit auto Show. Ford had not attempted to mass produce a two seat vehicle since the 1930’s.
However, they decided to take a risk with the T-bird and the reception was well worth it. The iconic 55 Thunderbird is considered to be the vehicle that brought a completely new market to the automotive world known as the “personal car”.
Equipped with a 292 Y Block V8 the car could let out impressive power all while offering the driver a comfortable, luxurious and stylish ride. The vehicle was equipped with a detachable fiberglass top that brought a fun edge to the car that few other vehicles at the time had offered.
The Thunderbird’s exterior is considered to be one of the finest designs to ever hit production. To this day the original T-bird continues to impress and turn heads when it rolls through the streets. The 1955 Ford Thunderbird was a true American classic and certainly one of Ford’s finest cars.
It paved the way for “personal cars” that would later hit the market and really brought forth the idea of an efficient, luxurious and stylish compact vehicle.
