The video features 10 cars that have been deemed illegal or banned from plying roads in the United States. Yup, America is supposed to be the Land of the Free, but there are certain vehicles that don’t meet stringent regulations of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Let’s look at a couple of examples before you watch the video. The Toyota Hilux is considered as one of the most reliable pickup trucks in the market, but don’t expect to be driving one anytime soon. Under the hood is a turbo diesel engine and the EPA’s rule for air quality won’t allow it to be imported. Another car that the government doesn’t want you to have is the 1999 Nissan Skyline R34 GTR V Spec which is a direct competitor to the Toyota Supra and Mazda RX7. It boasts some of the most advanced technologies that a 1999 car could have. Unfortunately, all the cutting-edge technology loaded in it has constantly kept the car from running on American soil.

So, you’ve looked longingly at the car shows in Europe, Asia and the rest of the world, and somehow wondered how you could drive some of the amazing automobiles that don’t make it to the states. Apparently, a passport and a plane ticket could well be the only way! Note that illegally imported vehicles are subject to confiscation and a trip to the crusher.
