Don’t you just love how old diesel engines start up? The video below details the sound of a bunch of them, going from the V12 Deutz engine with its rough but perfect sound, to the number of Detroit Diesel engines which start up fairly slowly and when they get going, they sound like the chainsaw!
One guy tries to start the 4 cylinder Lister engine by hand and his friend gets the mouthful of smoke when the engine turns on.
Another incredible example is the 1955 Fowler that hadn’t been fired up in 10 years, and still sounds pretty good!
The smoothest start and the running sound of these old diesel engines has Rolls Royce Eagle, and which is to be expected since Rolls Royce has always been the prestigious firm when it comes to machinery.
Even engines all the way from 1936, namely the Fairbanks-Morse model, are fired up in this incredible video. There is the D9G Caterpillar dozer that starts off slowly and sounds like it has some mechanical problems and I’m sure it is nothing that can’t be fixed.
All in all, who doesn’t love old diesel engines – there is a lot more of them in this video so go check it out!
