Founded in 1937 in Berlin, with the nod of no less than Adolf Hitler, today, the Volkswagen Group sits on the number seven spot in the list of Forbes Global 500, ahead of companies like Apple and Toyota. It’s also the world’s biggest automobile manufacturer, producing close to 10 million units annually.

The Volkswagen Group owns Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Ducati, Lamborghini, MAN, Porsche, Scania, Skoda, and SEAT. VW has a workforce of 610,076 and if one day the employees decide to create an army of their own, it would be larger than the armed forces of Australia, Croatia, Italy, and Norway combined!

In terms of revenue, VW is the 11th largest company in the world, with a yearly revenue of $245 billion. The amount easily dwarfs that of Toyota Motor Corp. ($227 billion), Daimler AG ($157 billion), General Motors Co. ($152 billion), Ford Motor Co. ($144 billion) and Honda Motor Co., Ltd. ($142 billion).
