It looks like BMWs are just as fast on two wheels and as they are on four, and no, we are not talking about the Motorrad division.
Vesa Kivimäki, the Finnish stunt driver, who’s been driving since he was six years old, broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest side wheelie in Seinäjoki, Finland.
Kivimäki performed the stunt behind the wheel of the BMW 330d, fitted with Nokian tires, and managed to achieve 186.269 km/h. Impressive, especially as there are some vehicles incapable of going that fast on all four wheels, and not to mention on two.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, the tires used were designed by the Nokian specifically for this purpose. They have been reinforced with the company’s Aramid Sidewall technology, and which made them more resistant to wear and cuts.
I have made earlier attempts to break the record for the fastest vehicle on two wheels, but have not been successful.
At some point, I realised that the key to record-breaking speed is to have the tyres that are exceptionally durable. Cooperation with Nokian Tyres and th Vianor made it possible to break the record, said Vesa Kivimäki, the holder of the new world record.
